The Winner of our Survey Respondents' Drawing....
"The Speedster's a real head-turner -- everywhere you go people will give you a thumbs-up, call out, 'cool car' or ask, 'what is it?' -- Philip H. |
Philip H., an architect from Brunswick Maine, was the lucky winner of our drawing, entitling him to a free drive in our 1957 Speedster !
The drawing took place on Tuesday, August 5, 2008.As it turned out, Philip had planned to drive to Boston to see an exhibit of designer car models at the Museum of Fine Arts. So, we were able to combine Philip's trip with his free drive.
Philip took the Speedster into Boston along the curvy Jamaicaway, enjoying the sunshine and admiring comments at each stop. That was Part I.
Part II, which for those of you living in Boston will come as no surprise, consisted of dodging torrential downpours. So we learned that a first-time driver can successfully erect the top and mount the side curtains!
Philip is a great sport - for him, getting "damp" was just part of the experience:"... the 'real sportscar' experience happened when I was caught in a thunderstorm. The authentically marginal convertible top and side curtains forced me to re-live some moments from my youth: memories came 'flooding' back!"
Thanks Philip, it was great to meet you!
Thanks to all who completed our survey!
Here's some of what we learned:
- Nearly everyone agrees the concept is a fun idea, and the most important feature of any car we offer is that it's FUN to drive
- Only the best will do - interior and exterior quality is important!
- Not too much interest in amenities - but roadside assistance is important (we have it!)
- In addition to the two favorite additional cars - the Austin-Healey and the Alfa Spider - other suggestions include the E-type Jaguar, an early Corvette or a Sunbeam Alpine!
The Austin-Healey was a favorite choice from our survey results...
... as well as the Alfa Spider.
